INDURA® Ultra Soft® 88% Cotton and 12% high Tenacity Nylon fabrics were introduced in 1996. INDURA® Ultra Soft® fabrics focused a small amount of high tenacity nylon in the face of the fabric to provide enhanced abrasion resistance for an extended garment wear life. The new INDURA® Ultra Soft® blend also provided superior test results in electric arc flash and flash fire testing over the original INDURA® fabrics. A softer feel enhances the cool comfort characteristics of the INDURA® Ultra Soft® to provide an industry leading balance of Protection, Comfort and Value unsurpassed in the marketplace today.

The effectiveness of Nomex® has been proven and documented in laboratories, field tests and real-life flash fire and electric arc situations.
Garments of Nomex® consistently provide outstanding thermal performance because Nomex® IIIA:
- Is inherently flame resistant
- FR apparel made with Nomex® helps protect against heat and flames
- Provides permanent flame resistance that won't wash out or wear away.
- Minimizes break-open and maintains a stable, inert barrier between the fire/arc and skin, protecting the wearer from direct exposure
- Forms a tough, protective char when exposed to flame, and stays supple until it cools
- Meets NFPA 1975 for firefighters’ stationwear
- Meets the ASTM F-1506 standard for workers’ apparel as protection from electric arc exposure.
- Complies with NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
- Complies with NFPA 2112 Standard on Flame-Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire
Garments made with Nomex® thermal technology are extremely durable and resist abrasion, tears and chemicals. They’re also an excellent value, lasting three to five times longer than other standard and protective fabrics, including 100% cotton and flame-retardant treated (FRT) cotton. In lease, rental and purchase programs, the outstanding wear life of garments of Nomex® IIIA can contribute to bottom-line savings. Garments of Nomex® are as comfortable to wear as other work clothing. Lightweight, breathable fabrics of Nomex® brand fiber are designed to transport moisture away from the skin, which helps wearers feel cool and dry. Side-by-side wear tests show that fabric weight is the single greatest factor in controlling garment comfort, and that the lightweight comfort of Nomex® is often preferred over other protective fabrics.

Excellent protection, durability and comfort from the makers of Nomex®.
When your work involves the risk of electric arc hazards, protection and safety come first. DuPont™ Protera™ fabric meets NFPA 70E Category 2 requirements and the protection won’t wash or wear away.
Along with it’s built-in protection against electric arc hazards, Protera™ offers better comfort and durability than other FR cotton nylon blends. One of the lightest weight NFPA 70E Category 2 technologies on the market, Protera™ proves that less is more. In a recent independent “comfort study”, wearers judged DuPont™ Protera™ the clear winner in overall comfort compared to FR cotton nylon blend garments of similar weights.
Protera™ was created to stand up to repeated washings. It starts off stronger and stays stronger than FR cotton nylon blends after repeated washings.
The science of comfort and safety meet in DuPont™ Protera™ .

A dangerous and demanding environment faces the welder virtually every day.
Difco Safeweld® 950 is designed specifically to meet and exceed the needs of welders.
Safeweld® uses an advanced blend of FR. Viscose/Kevlar (60/40 blend), weighs only 9.5 o.p.s.y., features a Twill weave construction and is finished with Difco’s advanced Stay Dry Plus® water resistant finish.
In field tests in some of the most demanding environments, Safeweld® is still going strong after 4 years of intensive use, making it exceptionally cost-effective, stronger and more durable than cotton with less repairs and lasts 6 to 8 times longer than cotton.
Furthermore, Safeweld® 950 was tested at the Kinetrics high current Lab for Arc Flash resistance. The Arc Thermal Performance Value obtained was 8.1 Cal/cm2. This result complies with NFPA 70E (Level 2) standard for the FR protection against arc flash.
