Westex Inc.

Westex Inc., established in 1919, has over a half century of experience producing flame resistant fabrics. Westex continues to hold a dominant position as the world’s largest producer of durable flame resistant cotton and cotton blended fabrics. Westex has made a commitment to continual improvement of protective fabrics through innovative research and development. Our strong commitment to inventory coupled with over one million square feet of manufacturing & warehousing in three facilities and five state-of-the-art INDURA®  production hlines (in two separate locations) allows Westex to provide unparalleled worldwide support to the protective clothing marketplace. Westex’s INDURA®  Ultra Soft® and INDURA®  flame resistant fabrics are the premier brand in the industry and today, they are specified at thousands of end-user companies globally. Millions of garments made from the INDURA®   Ultra Soft® and INDURA®  fabric hline are being worn today by workers in many industries including electrical maintenance, electric & gas utilities, oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical, military and ferrous metals industries.

Westex recognizes that in the event of an electric arc flash, flash fire, molten metal splash or other thermal exposure, the performance of the flame resistant (FR) fabric used to construct the garment is a critical factor in determining the level of protection the garment will afford the wearer. The FR fabric is also a main factor in determining the comfort, durability and the overall value equation of an FR protective clothing program. Over the past half century Westex has earned a reputation of building the most advanced systems, equipment and technology in the industry. Westex is committed to  consistently producing the highest quality flame resistant cotton and cotton blend fabrics possible, providing excellent service & technical support and continued focus on innovative research & development to further enhance the safety, comfort and value of protective clothing programs.

For over a decade, INDURA®   Ultra Soft® flame resistant fabrics have been specified by brand name at thousands of enduser companies around the world. Millions of garments made with INDURA®   Ultra Soft® have been installed into some of the harshest climates & conditions and they consistently provide a superior balance of protection, comfort and value.

DuPont® is a global science company, which develops high performance materials and technologies that make a difference in people’s lives. DuPont® Personal Protection is a world leader in the area of workplace safety, offering consultation services and some of the best known brands in protective apparel, including Nomex®, Kevlar®, Tyvek® and Tychem®.

DuPont™ Nomex® brand fibre is inherently flame-resistant which means its thermal protection is permanent – it cannot be washed out or worn away. Nomex® won’t melt, drip or support combustion in the air. Combined with high break strength, tear resistance and abrasion resistance properties, garments made of Nomex® brand fibre help protect firefighters, race car drivers and industrial workers alike.

In essential performance areas such as flame resistance, thermal protection, comfort and durability, no other brand compares to Nomex®. Its thermal technology resists the hazards associated with electric arcs and flash fires - including intense heat and flame. And, Nomex® brand fibre provides valuable peace-of-mind, which enables those who wear it to focus on the job at-hand and perform to their fullest potential.
Nomex® AP is a specialized offering that helps minimize burn injuries associated with electric arc fires by meeting NFPA 70E criteria for Hazard/Risk Category 2 arc protection.

New from DuPont® Personal Protection, DuPont™ Protera™ is designed for wearers whose work involves the risk of electric arc hazards.  DuPont™ Protera® fabric meets NFPA 70E Category 2 requirements and the protection won’t wash or wear away. It offers built-in protection against electric arc hazards and in “comfort studies” has performed better than FR cotton or FR cotton nylon blends. Protera™ is one of the lightest weight NFPA 70E Category 2 technologies on the market but garments made of Protera™ are durable and stand up to repeated washings better than FR cotton nylon blend garments of similar weights. The science of comfort and safety meet in DuPont™ Protera® .

The DuPont oval logo, DuPont™, Kevlar®, Nomex®, Tychem® and Tyvek® and Protera™ are trademarks or registered trademarks of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. DuPont Canada is a licensee.
